Connect Newsletter

You could be new to the area and want to know a little more about your new home or have lived here your whole life and just want the latest information about community projects and events. No matter if you're running a Sutton office for Victoria real estate or are teaching a civics class, there are plenty of reasons to pick up the Connect Newsletter if you're a citizen of Victoria, British Columbia.

One of the best reasons to pick up Connect is to check out where your local tax dollars are being spent. You could read about a project to build low-income housing or read the biography of a new city employee that will be serving people like you. If you're someone who listens to news programs like Democracy Now and likes to stay on top of local issues, there are also sections where you can find out about environmental projects and can even write in to give your own opinions.

If you're looking for something to do in the Victoria area the Connect Newsletter can be a great resource for that as well. It could highlight a conference that brings together all of the professionals working in home health care BC throughout our hospital system or could just tell you about a great sporting event that you might want to attend with the whole family. Some upcoming events for 2010 include a gardening workshop, the First Annual Cardboard Boat Derby, and Emergency Preparedness Workshops. Whether you're interested in environmentally-friendly products like organic baby skincare or are building a new business you are likely to find an event that is relevant to your life in the city.

The Connect Newsletter is delivered to every home in Victoria three times a year as a way for city officials to communicate with the local citizens. It comes out in January, May and September. Connect is even printed on 100% recycled paper and uses vegetable inks to be an earth conscious as possible. If you're not currently living in the city you can still access a copy of the newsletter on the City of Victoria website. You could read it while you're off planning a cottage wedding for work or if you're in the process of moving to the city.

Connect also has a list of all of the city councillors and their individual office contact information. Every issue is started out by a letter from the mayor highlighting past accomplishments within the city and plans for the future of Victoria. If you wish to contact the makers of Connect you can do so through email or a formal letter. There is also a Facebook page set up that will help you communicate with the writers and other readers.
